Being new to Indian cooking, we were really pleased to find this clean, pleasant, well stocked grocery that is easily reached in the South Shore area. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Good selection of fresh produce as well as Indian spices, dry ingredients, frozen and refrigerated foods. Ready-made dosa mix was great.
I would like to start that since the change of the ownership this place has turnaround completely, the staff is friendly, items are fresh and the variety is more. Some of the fresh in house prepared meals and snacks are very good. Overall a nice place for Indian groceries, halal meat and also take out.
I had the best experience at South Shore Desi Market. I called to find several ingredients and Minza Qaisar answered the phone and confirmed they had everything That I was looking for. He then greeted me when I arrived and brought me around showing me where everything was, making suggestions. It was a wonderful experience. I thought the prices were reasonable, but the customer service was phenomenal.
This is about the only Indian grocery store that I've ever seen in this area and I've been wanting to try it for quite some time. The place is small and the aisles are very narrow. They do have a lot of stuff though including a meat counter in the back area of the store and plenty of groceries as well as a produce area. I went in for something sweet for dessert and in their refrigerated foods area I found a package of Gulab Jamun that was very delicious when I got it home and tried it. The prices are pretty good here and are reasonable for what you get. The cashier who waited on me didn't seem too friendly but that's about the only thing that I can say that I didn't like about the place.
